When we were in the northern province of Friesland Wifi was very slow and weak. I did not manage to upload photos, that was really frustrating. The Netherlands anno 2015 - a new experience.
We had a noisy night - party in Hoorn and the churchbells rang every 30 minutes. Our landlady surprised us with a delicious breakfast with the best strawberries we ever had. and when we left she hang out the flag of Holland AND Germany! Charming!
There was hardly any wind this morning and we had a perfect ride on the dike looking at the sea and hundreds of boats. We were also accompanied by several hundred of sporters running the marathon of Hoorn. Along the way we passed small villages with lovely renovated farmhouses.
Our first stop was the old historic town of Enkhuizen where we admired a replica of the famous boat "Halvemaan".
Then we crossed the IJsselmeer by boat to continue our bike ride at the other side of the sea.
We arrived at Stavoren Harbour. It took us another 18 km to reach Workum, our final destination today.
Workum is the place where Douwe Egbert, the most famous Dutch koffie company once started.
As I promised yesterday herewith a second video of 3.50 min. to give you an impression why I am engaged in NPH Guatemala: it is because of the children who deserve a chance to lead a decent life beyond poverty.
