I MADE IT !!!
After 23 long km in the heat we finally reached Santiago de Compostella. Happy, but worn-out.
The day started with a warming-up of my feet. 23 km or some 25.000 feet in burning heet - how crazy must you be to do this? Today I asked myself this question again and again. Stefania got her last blister and felt the pain all day long. We passed many small villages enjoying the fields, forests and flowers. My midday we got hungry, but there was no open bar. Finally we found a place where we had a delicious sandwich and lots of water. The way through the suburbs of Santiago felt like a torture because it was so hot. Finally by 16.30 we reached our destination: the cathedral. There was no access because the crown prince of Spain and Japan were in town. Peter invited us for a drink to celebrate our arrival. As a big surprise I met some pelgrims from my last year's hikes.
