Leaving Leon after a fantastic day off. Last night we had a very delicious dinner in a typical Spanish restaurant.
On my way out of the city I passed San Marco, which nowadays is one of Spain´s most luxurious national hotels (Parador).
Then the Camino showed its dark side: hiking through an industrial zone, followed by deserted areas, a sort of science fiction pampa, walking in parching heat. This was heavy today, longer than I had expected. I felt worn-out.
The last km on the road felt as if our feet were barbecued. I hiked together with a young couple from Cologne and Christa from Hamburg, 8km only straight on and on.
I never forget the purpose of my hike4education 2012: study finance for 3 orphans in Guatemala. I sincerely hope that with my hike and all my physical efforts these days I can inspire you to help realize this fantastic project of NPH Guatemala. To give you an idea what it looks like in Guatemala and above all to let Wilmer and Jacinto come alive I have a link for you: a film on youtube published recently, produced by the American chapter of NPH "Friends of the Orphans". Just take a couple of minutes and enjoy !!
