Day 2: Sahagun - El Burgo Ranero (20 km)

Another 20 km in la Meseta. It´s sooooooooo hot today. No wind, 25 degr. at 11 o´clock - a challenge. I´m walking in a group with 4 people from Germany today, that makes it easier because of the distraction. The path goes straight on for many km, todo recto through cornfields and deserted areas. Hardly any villages, only the path with the 5 of us.
Sahagun with its famous old churches; I'm also fascinated by all those stork nests on church towers.

An ordinary pilgrim's accomodation

I have a nice episode from last night.
In the pilgrim´s hostal they offer a pelgrim´s dinner with 3 courses and water and red wine. Last night there was a group of American High School students. The owner of the hostal was in a very special mood, he started bringing red wine, and then white wine, and another red wine, 4 years old (Fred, you would have enjoyed that one!) then beer and at last the champagne bottles came flying from the bar - all for free. It went so quickly, the American students who are not allowed to drink alcohol saw their chance. After 20 minutes one of the teachers stood up complaining¨: Oh no, most of my students are drunken !!! Let´s hope (for the teachers) that none of the students will talk about their funniest dinner in Spain.
Another 8 km are still waiting for me, I´ll stop for today. Buen Camino, hope you are all fine
