I love the company of warm-hearted and open-minded people and this is exactly what you can find on the Camino. The daily hike that leads you through fantastic landscape, and the physical exhaustion at the end of the day bring you back to basics and to yourself. I had so nice talks with people these days. People talking frankly about their confrontation with serious illness, death of a beloved person, children leaving home - everybody has his own story.
Thinking about my life: I´m so grateful that after the death of my first husband my sons and I had benefit of the social security system in Germany. The children of NPH Guatemala who have stolen our hearts at first sight don´t have such systems. I feel so lucky that with all my passion and enthousiasm I can contribute to giving these kids the chances for life they need.
